A Summer Aromatic Memo:
Summer Aromatic Memos are about the flowers and leaves that have a unique nature, that of the “fire spirit”. The Fire Spirit is an “inner teaching” * (see below) or a spiritual point of view that examines how we perceive our surroundings culturally, along with the affects that the season and the objects in nature have on us.
For instance, we categorize the Flowers of Summer as having this “fire spirit” because they have attraction for the heart and the emotions.
Noted today: Fire and the Spirit of Summer
Rose, Lavender and Jasmine
I think that Roses, Lavender, and Jasmine express the Fire Spirit. They are the Fire Spirit Flowers of Summer! Scents of Rose, Lavender, and Jasmine are, despite our distracted lives, hugely attractive to us.
As allies to our scent memories, they support our sense of well-being, a sensitivity to our mental and spiritual senses. Rose, Lavender, and Jasmine represent the emotion of love, outwardly. As well, inwardly, as love towards ourselves, too. In other words, these Fire Spirit Flowers symbolize the emotional Heart.
Spirit of Fire, Spirit of Love
The spirit of love is strongly emotional. In turn, the spirit of fire is symbolic of how the scents of Fire Spirit essential oils interact with us. Components of the scents happen to be ones our emotional hearts crave. I found that the connection of scent and its effects on Heart energy is often noted in my sources on scent.
By the way, the Fire Spirit Flowers strengthen your Fire element inside and outside, supporting positive emotions.
Perfection in a Flower
Our scent memory includes many experiences, especially of love, compassion, forgiveness, or nurture. Our scent memory clearly informs us about a flower and any emotions we have stored about that being. Thereby we look for perfection in a flower.
“… emotional and spiritual wellbeing is our innate sense of harmony and perfection…”
From Gabriel Mojay, p. 166. Mojay talks almost exclusively about emotions in his book, Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit, c1997, asserting that our response to flowers occurs in very specific conditions of the Heart and Mind. Upon deprivation, we strive to regain engagement and balance, and re-create wholeness.

The Healing Properties of Summer Aromatic Oils
Essential oils of Summer exhibit the enlivening properties of Fire. What does that mean, exactly? I have been pondering this question for a while, and I believe that the elements illustrate a season in the plainest ways. If, without judgement, we observe a season and its element, it is possible to imagine that it represents the body’s and mind’s basic functions, too.
The element of fire is respected for its power to process our emotional and physical feelings.
And yet, the element of Fire plainly points to creating mobility in our bodies–in blood circulation, nerves, lymph, and certainly our digestive processes. Fire invigorates thought and emotions, our memories, as well as the physical body. Thus Fire in this way does not mean to consume but to enable life.
Essential Oils of Fire Spirit Flowers have Fire element actions. These oils provide the vigor needed to warm, move, and rebalance our emotions.
Tip: Discover Your Connection to Love

My Inquiry is a way to increase my understanding of the incredible healing powers in scents and aromas. One of the ways flowers connect to the Heart is seen in the Five Element Theory.
The Five Elements theory is discussed and illustrated on the internet. But you can also sit with the concept in a book on the subject, one that’s not too difficult to understand if you are new to this idea.
