An Aromatic Memo: Take a Break—an Aroma Break!
My message in any season is full of the positive point of view.
Aromatics in Season are the Aromas of Plants & Essential Oils for good health in the face of seasonal challenges.
Aromatics contribute to seasonal wellbeing!
The Seasons are represented in the energies of Yin and Yang. As a pair of opposites, yin and yang affect our wellbeing and emotions. They can be influenced positively or negatively by aromas.
Inhaling an aroma, one that you genuinely like to smell, can lead to seasonal wellbeing.
To get to seasonal wellbeing, practice taking an aroma break anytime you think of it. Then extend that practice to keeping a schedule, a date with you aromatic break.
Taking an Aroma Break
Actually, intentionally, purposefully, taking an aroma break is guaranteed to influence your life in a beneficial way. Such a practice looks like this: you slow down, focus and breathe in deeply. And exhale. Repeat.
An aroma break gives you a chance to exercise your sense of smell, which includes your brain and memory, too. With the purpose of giving attention to one of your senses, you’ll acknowledge the result of that sensory experience and savor the way this makes you feel about a particular scent.
If you can manage to slow down enough to be intentional, to smell an aroma—by slowly inhaling and exhaling, then repeat—you’ll send your brain the message that “everything is okay”… that you are okay, and even the world itself, if just for a moment, is okay. Sometimes a smell break like this is all you need to survive intense work schedules, world news, a hurtful argument, a stressful day, and much more.
Aroma Breaks can produce subtle results
Yes it’s possible to get subtle information from scent. Impressions come into focus, banishing criticism and fear. Acknowledgement of others in the form of compassion, also extends to the self.
Compassion is an expression of love and forgiveness. Like flowers which return these passions to our hearts, compassion is something we all crave more of.
Rose, Jasmine, Chamomile, Lavender, Yarrow –
Which are your favorites?
Essential oils and the aromas of spices and herbs, currently blooming flowers, any of the aromatic plants…
… are a great place to start. Just being with, simply noting and savoring the essence of a plant in flower may help cultivate the depths of your heart where compassion lives.
Slow down and take a smell break.
With a practice of Aroma Breaks, the aromas of aromatic plants, and of course flowers, will support self-discovery and help define your positive outlook.
